Nigerian Restaurants in London
Inspired by Lifehacker’s How to Eat Ethiopian Food, here is a comprehensive list of nigerian restaurants in London. The list was compiled from various sources including Olaseni Durojaiye’s restaurant guide and London Eating websites.
As for how to eat nigerian food, don’t let me catch you using fork and knife. Just ask the waiter/waiteress for water to wash your hands.
So dude where are the restaurants?
The directory is divided into
1. North London
2. South London
3. West London
I currently don’t know any nigerian restaurants in East London. One word of caution, remember to call the restaurant in advance to check that it still exists. Restaurants come and go.
The joints I have rocked!

I was in London last summer from Chicago and I was very impressed with the service and decor of 805. It’s hard to find Nigerian restaurants like that in Chicago, they are all sub standard.
Ireti has a nice review on Angie’s on her website.

Hi just wanted to attract your attnetion to Mama Calabar now in Wembley
As a european married with an Igbo I am proud to take business partners or even family from France to that new place now. I am sorry to say that I am yet to see another nigerian restaurant in London with this sense of design, but I maybe wrong?
My mate has just opened EKO RESTAURANT AND WINE BAR at Homerton High Road. The food is very good, interior decor per excellence, its Classy - Check it out.
I have rocked most naija resturants in south east london, my MAJOR beef with them is they don’t seem to want to spend money on decor!! we have the food, but CAN’T SEEM to create the ambiance!! most of them are sub standard when it comes to decor ,anyway, please join us soon for a nu innovation in ‘naija dinning’ sometime last week in january or early february 2007 on deptford high street. check my website for info (realmusicworld.blogspot.com) ps. ‘805′ on old kent road takes the biscuit for now !! peace
SE of London is exceptionally endowed with lots of nigerian restuarants I must confess. I will reiterate that 805 on Old kent road is the no.1 restuarant as far as I am concerned. Marble restuarant is a new modern upcoming restuarant they sort of need time to build their brand. Tasty in Woolwich is special for naija take away. I pop in there once in a while to pick up something.
There’s a restaurant up north - NW2 to be precise - named D Den. Expensive food - Eba, Iyan, Etc for £2.50, Ogbono, Egusi, Etc for £5-£6, Stock fish, Beef Assorted, Etc for £5-£7, totalling approx. £12 per person to dine or take-away - Not including drinks- The decor is the least appealing I’ve seen so far. No-so-trained waitresses that get on your nerves - Poor lightning, Menu can be so comfusing. Does anyone know where the new Tasty restaurant is based in Stratford?
ANGIES, Harrow Road
I always buy takeout from Angies, gotta say the food is delicious. One thing, when eating in, careful of da tables. I found they take a while to clear old tablecloths and such away. When I went there to dine in, we sat at a table and the table cloth was filthy. We waited a while, patiently, but then got a bit fed up when our order was taken and they STILL hadn’t cleaned the table. We then asked them to and they did. The waiter we had was nice, though inexperienced and the manager told him off right in front of us which was uneccesary and off putting. However, the food was GREAT AS ALWAYS and we left with our stomachs full. Also, the managment and staff were very polite and hospitable to US.
Wouldn’t really reccommend for a night out but definately to take-away and you should try EVERYTHING cause it’s all wonderful!

Ores abeg where can I get good Naija food in birmingham..e be like se e dey scarce!!
Well, going to 805 for lunch today with my sister and my little nephew. Really looking forward to it as haven’t had Nigerian food for ages! I used to go to the Embassy African Restaurant on Blackheath Road but the service is pants. The last time I ordered a takeout, they kept me waiting for so long that I walked out and that’s the last of my custom they will get. Tomi’s on Deptford High Street is lovely but the food not quite as good as the Embassy. Will check out Tasties in Woolwich in the near future too.
