Site Update (7)

I missed updating my site.

I must confess I have forgotten how to blog. As I chewed over how this came about, I realised the yellow colour that once made this site bright had passed its sell by date. I decided I wanted a duller website - and here you have it, a dull coloured website. I appreciate that not all the colours match but I tried as much as I could. I am satisfied with the effort. It has saved me redesigning the site.

I continue to move things around (e.g head logo needs some attention) until I know how to blog again. Thread with ease as you may find some broken links along the way (ofcourse this is not unusual).

Happy New year, everyone!!

Gone Till September (0)

Actually that should read as “Back in September” after a much delayed anticipated return, I am back. Let get all pretend I never really left. Now that we have that cleared out of the way. Let do some catching up.

As of yesterday, I am offically a Geek according to two friends studying computer science at Oxford (Did I say I was studying chemical engineering). All I did was make some geeky suggestion about changes for one of them to make to his computer - see earlier post for some ideas.

Marcus has done posting on his time working at Feltham Young Offenders Institute here and here while Nosa has written an open letter to Quentin Tarantino who allegedly has a blog now maintained by his editor. Unganisha has more of his stories which absolutely amuses me.

MentalAcrobatics attended Cassidy’s concert which didn’t quite go as he planned. Jag spells out the steps for making ‘Vindaloo’ style chicken. I need to stop just reading the recipes and actually start cooking them to see some results. Apparently been able to cook as man is very attractive (should compensate for the geekness in me).

Minor Changes (5)

update: Firstly I have implemented a hack by Chris Davis in Wordpress that gives you live previewing of comments. Go and try it out. It is so cool! Secondly I have created a recent links blog thanks to Markku’s hack. Check out his site, he has an impressive photo collection. (I hope he releases the script he used for photo collection soon)

I have updated the old notebook index template - the rest of the archive will be remain the same. I have removed recent post link from the sidebar because it looked out of place.

Re-design (6)

I was inspired to continue to maintain my tradition of simple web design, I believe I have achieved this. I made the following changes:

  1. The index page, (www.cafe151.co.uk) will automatically to be redirected to my blog page. (index page never really served any purpose in my view).
  2. Introduced ‘Quotable’ on my blog page.
  3. New photos page - which is very empty at the moment. I am still thinking of what to do with that page.
  4. The site validates as XHTML 1.0 and is not displayed as intended in Netscape 4x and Internet Explorer 4. (please upgrade your browser)

404 page (3)

I have customised my 404 error page.

Update: You may have noticed the activities on this site over the weekend ranging from sudden disappearance of the site to link errors amongst other things. This was a result of me upgrading to WordPress 1.0 and I managed to cause chaos in other parts of the site. As at now, most of the errors have been fixed, however if you come across any errors please let me know.

Good to be back (3)

Welcome to cafe151.co.uk. This is the first post using Wordpress. After some careful thoughts I decided to pick up my personal domain. I have since realised that I was reaped off but then again that is life. My eagerness to register cafe151.co.uk allowed to overlook researching for the best deal around but the I guess the damage is done. I registered my domain through my ISP for about £12 per year when there were deals going for £1.99 per year. The issue is not money but the fact that I got played. This is to do with princple.

The site design has not changed much, if at all. I am looking into avenues to transfer information from my previous blog into this new blog. I believe that will take time.
