Jay-Z to tour Nigeria and South Africa

Jay-Z in partnership with MTV has been invited by the United Nations to raise water crisis awareness around the world. He will be doing an international tour covering various cities in Europe and Africa to spread the word. The dates and venues for African part of the tour are as follows;

October 04 - Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Diamond Jubilee)
October 06 - Accra, Ghana (Accra Conference Center)
October 07 - Lagos, Nigeria (Ocean View)
October 09 - Luanda, Angola (Cine Karl Max)
October 11 - Cape Town, South Africa (Belleville Velodrome)
October 13 - Durban, South Africa (ABSA Stadium Outer Fields)
October 14 - Johannesburg, South Africa (Coca Cola Dome)

MTV will produce “Diary of Jay-Z: Water for Life” during the tour.

Worth Listening to the press release. I was not impressed with Jay-Z’s response to the press during the Q&A session. He seemed very unprepared and failed to answer most questions. Hard to believe it was his idea.

Ocean view is located right between Eko Hotel and Kuramo beach.

Tunde — August 23rd, 2006 at 7am

aderemi August 23rd, 2006 at 2pm

Jay Z will be fine, plus he runs a company - there is business twist to this trip.

Interesting hustler. i like the way you put on the words. i’m from Mozambique

Gabby AKA Starfish — October 4th, 2006 at 3pm

Im really buggin out right now!!! How can the friggin organisers place a whoopin 25gees on da damn show? The real jigga fans are cats from the hood not them butter fingers cats. Just wonderin if they would be able to spit a verse and rhyme along when the god MC is doin his thang. The essence of hiphop is the audience.
if u feelin me homies, comment on this!!!

Prince Victor,delta state — October 5th, 2006 at 3pm

Gabby, thank u very much for your comment.although i’m a prince and would be able 2 afford the 25 gees placed on this concert i think the money is just too outrageous. it would have being arround 10 gees so as to allow so many jigga fans out there to be there at the show.

abimbola — October 5th, 2006 at 6pm

the organisation is realy poor non of the adverts mentioned the venue or price word on the streets is that its 25thousand naira popular side and a hundred thousand v.i.p thats rediculous i think efcc should move in on those in thevip am not speaking with the mind of a poverty minded person but it is a total rip off am sure it ll be cheaper to travel to ghana to watch the show if it is a un sponsored event to promote portable water then it shouldnt be this expencive somebody is greedy.
the list of Naija artists too,non of them represents rap i love sunny ade but him mates no dey there

Charles — October 6th, 2006 at 12am

Wow! Jay-z in Naija????? Even before his rival that claims to be from the very country???(NAS) that’s history. i pray God for more of them rappers to find their way back to where they from. witness the real ‘hard knock’ life as u journey round Naija man!

myles — October 12th, 2006 at 6pm

hey the greatest in da game, undisputed king of hip hop.well hes coming to nija is just the biggest thing eva to come to this continent.and plus hes coming in wit beyonce of all people, thats gonna be cerocious.i can go for 100gees peps.

Hustler — October 13th, 2006 at 11am

one thing i like about my nigerian people is that we like to have fun, but the bad thing is that the greedy dudes behind this things just do anything to reep us off, someone is stepping in soon to put an end to all this teef teef, just keep ur ears out for A.F.A (African For Africans) they promise to be good.

willchab — October 13th, 2006 at 11am

Well come to our motherland bro Jigga. Its quite interesitn to know that you also love your motherland(africa)as an African-American.

ELSA — October 13th, 2006 at 1pm

Hi hustler who are the “African For Africans”?

sweetc — October 14th, 2006 at 8pm

It sounds so cool that Jay-Z is coming to Nigeria for a concert but at $200 - $800 for ticket I think we africans have been fooled. How does that raise awareness in a country/continent that is suffering from poverty and unemployment. Take a moment and think about this, compare the dollar to the naira or any other african nation… the business twist to this is so apparent. The U.S. hosts free concerts all the time to raise awareness for issues such as the one these artists will be performing for… I’m sorry I am not impressed at all.

Is there really mad love for African Americans in the motherland right now? Or is it just for HIP HoP celebs? What is the real deal? Are we all truly welcome to come back to our roots or are we looked at like trespassers? A lot of brotha’s from America have travelled home without being humble. This makes it hard for us all. There is a lot of money in African America that wants to make its way back…unfortunately there is hype that we are not welcome. Help a brotha out. Let me know what the word on the street is.

oyinkan September 22nd, 2007 at 3am
