Nigerian Government Websites
I find that most of the Nigerian Government websites I visit have one thing in common. They don’t look pretty. The disparity in domain names used by various states in the country is not encouraging either, for example:
Lagos state - http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/
Oyo state - http://www.oyostategov.com/
Kano state - http://www.kanostate.net/
Enugu state - http://www.enugu.gov.ng/
The lack of uniformity suggests that the present government led by Obasanjo does not have a coherent policy on using the web to reach the Nigerian people. Perhaps it is not priority considering the other economic issues affecting the country.
It is not all bad, Plateau state has an impressive design. I feel like it is a place I want to visit. Of course, how recent the photos on the website are is a different question. Do you know any nice government websites, drop a comment.

Government web sites in Nigeria are just baby elephant projects to settle the boys.
If the Nigerian government spent over N100 Million to produce the Nigerian advert shown on the CNN, you can guess how much must have been spent to create the web sites.
The Radio Nigeria does not even have a web site. And the NTA has a pathetic web site that is a poor parody of the web site of Africa Independent Television (AIT).
The Nigerian government web sites are just for public appearances. And when you look at the very poor adminstration of the sites you will know that they are not serious.
Like that saying goes ’na government property’! So it seems no one really cares when it comes to anything government-that explains the ugly official websites.
That of Jos stands out for sure. But you bet most of that wildlife is long gone. I lived in Jos for over 20years and yeah, there’s not a calmer Nigerian city!
