Unblocking the sink
I am one of those of people who try a new product (once, if it fails it will never be tried again) because it was advertised. The sink in bathroom was blocked again. Only 9months ago a plumber was called in to sort it out and it was up and running in no time. The same symptons started showing recently, we tried the sink plunger - no result. (a picture of sink plunger is available here)
Seeing the advert for Mr Muscle Sink & Plughole Unblocker and its catchy slogan ‘loves the jobs you hate’ - It seemed I had found the solution. I told my sister to pick up a bottle from Tesco. We read the label and proceeded with caution. The entire contents was poured down blocked plughole and it was left overnight to allow it work effectively. My Mom got up in morning and completed the last step in the instructions - Rinse with hot water from tap. But wait, the hot water did not go. The sink was completely blocked. We finished worse than we started.
Since I was the one preaching all good news about Mr Muscle Sink & Plughole Unblocker, I was extremely disappointed. Then it occurred to me (this is where weblogs come in) that surely if the product does not work someone would ranted about it in their blog. I went straight to google, typed in some keywords and I found a tip in comment section on using a wire coat-hanger. I was back at sink with my hanger and all was solved. The sink is flowing and I have been decleared the hero for the day.
Moral of the Story: If in doubt, Go to Google/Yahoo and type keywords associated with the issue you are facing and you too could be a hero for day.

RE: “Success is going from failure to failure without a loss of enthusiam.” (Sir Winston Churchill, 1874-1965) at phoenix
Depends. your enthusiasm is blostered by achieving a goal, it’s dampened by not achieving anything. if you fail @ a lot of things, you tend to see yourself as a failure. if you succeed @ something, it encourages you to try something else. i’ll elaborate l8r. thx 4 dropping by.

I agree with you but it is still quite a success if one can pick him/herself up after a failure and keeping moving without been drawn down.
lol lol!! you’re just like Bebe, she buys like everything she sees advertised…i mean orange/cinnamon flavored toothpaste? goodness
neways that’s funny how you showed us that picture of a sink plunger…lol well i guess you can’t assume everyone would know what it looks like huh…
there’s something like that out here..i forgot what it’s called but… Mr. Muscle is a VERY weird name for ANYTHING except and actual Muscle named Mr.
Go you SinkPluggingHeroMan…
ok I although I confessed that i would try anything but not orange/cinnamon flavored toothpaste - We need to have word with Bebe.
Mr Muscle - British at its very best.
Perhaps the product team could be contacted to update their documentation with the tip. At least we can learn for our future management positions that as a product marketer its also a good idea to monitor weblogs for mentions of your product; you might just be able to go a long way in correcting bad PR!
I love your layout more and more each time I see it! Especially this instant preview thing … Is it mozilla-complaint?
Maybe they should read weblogs but what about if someone sets up a company that crawls through the web to get information/tips about different products, reports back to the company and get paid for their service.
> Is it mozilla-complaint?
I belive it is. I use K-meleon, lightweight web browser based on the Gecko layout engine (the rendering engine of Mozilla). It works fine on this browser.
Glad the tips helped you out! Luckily for you, you didn’t have to contend with the big black sink slug that appeared from ours! :)
You’re right, Remi. I am sure such ‘competitive-intelligence’ services exist. But, if you think of it, all the marketing executive needs to do is to go to google and type the name of his product to see who refers to it! In fact, google web alerts can help to totally automate this process.
I enjoyed your page. Keep up the good work!
I found this blog when I was doing a Google search for unblocking sinks. I recently had a problem with my bath not letting the water out of the plughole for about an hour after the plug was removed.
I tried the plunger thing, but, no success. So, rather than calling a plumber I thought I`d try the Mr Muscle Sink & Plughole Unblocker. The instructions actually say to leave it for an hour (I left mine for about one and a half hours). I then poured very hot water down, and after some foaming and bubbling, the bath plughole - not me- it cleared and since then water has gone down freely and very quickly.
