PDL Day3 and 4
On Day3 R.Warren asks: What would my family and friends say is the driving force of my life? What do I want it to be?
I has some difficulty answering this question. I think my driving force in life is to succeed. For me, my driving force is unique for each part of my life. To some extent the driving force to succeed will mean I am driven by materialism and need for approval. For example, if I do get married and I have kids - my drive will be provide with them in my capacity. This would suggest my drive in life is materialism. I remember a time when I used to check my blog every minute to see who had made a comment - which makes me wonder if I am driven by approval. I have to say this has improved with time as I don’t constantly stare at my site log.
Looking back now, I also remember when I used to go to a friend’s church which was full of young people, I used to look for approval from the youth pastor for doing or saying certain things. As I read through Douglas’s day3, I found he summarised what I wish would drive me>
heard the George Bernard Shaw quote a number of times. It should be noted that the word is “clod,” not “clot,” but I get the idea. While there are many mighty purposes by which one can be used up, spreading the gospel, either directly, or by supporting those who do, is one of the biggies. Another mighty purpose is the ministry to human need. While you may not be caring for the dying in Calcutta like Mother Teresa did, you can support those who do
On Day 4, R.Warren asks: Since I was made to last forever, what is the one thing I should stop doing and the one thing I should start doing today?
Another challenging question for me - Eric points out that the challenge in this chapter is to be able to honestly examine our lives and evaluate that we are truly living our earthly lives in preparation for our eternal ones. I could not think anything I should stop doin but rather things I should start doing. Like I mentioned on day1, it would have to be reading and mediating on his word. On Saturday, I spoke to my local pastor about my upcoming exams and job search. He gave me this verse :
Tags: GeneralTherefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Hello!
I’m visiting for the first time. I think you are the first Yoruba-speaking blogger I have met. The URL says you are in the UK. Is that the case? Though I live in Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes in the USA, I spent a year in Birmingham many years ago as a child, and thus have a place in my heart for the UK.
Looking forward to visiting again soon…
omg your blog makes me think too much…i need something to numb me….ouch i have a headache… but umm thanks though!!
good stuff. materialism is what makes us run like hamsters on a wheel. always going for ‘the score’, ‘the big one’. in every man, there is a drive to succeed. but how do you measure success? added an entry in my blog today about that. it’s a little brief, but hope you get the idea. you must be phlegmatic/melancholy!
yeah, one more thing - can’t find your post on the ‘miracle’ article. could u repost it? thanks.
Phoenix, I don’t have a recollection of me posting any material on a ‘miracle’. (i am hoping to post one soon) Lately I have been quite stressed so possibly I posted it and deleted it again. I checked around, no evidence of such. Do you remember any info from the article.
Douglas, I am truly in the UK. I never knew Minnesota is also know the land of 10,000 lakes. After Googling, I found this:
http://education.umn.edu/MN/default.html
We’re known as the “Land of 10,000 Lakes” but Minnesota actually has 12,000 lakes including Lake Superior and several lakes inside the Twin Cities.
I hope you come back soon
cool brotha man , keep on dazzling em, proud of ya!
