PDL Day2 (3)

I know that God uniquely created me. What areas of my personality, background, and physical appearance am I struggling to accept?

I don’t think I ever believed or thought I was a mistake. Often I do ponder when things are not going right whether or not I ought to be where I am. What touched me most about my reading in day2 is summarised below:

…”God is love”. It doesn’t say God has love. He is love! Love is the essence of God’s character…so God didn’t need to create you. He wasn’t lonely. But he wanted to make you in order to express his love

To answer the question of day, after much delibration I think my main struggle lies in my personality (n. The totality of qualities and traits, as of character or behavior, that are peculiar to a specific person). Atimes I refuse to argue with people even when I know I am right. I am also the master of procrastination - then I push myself to edge when the deadline comes near. I can’t seem to learn from that mistake.

PDL Day1 (4)

In spite of all the advertising around me, how can I remind myself that life is really about living for God, not myself?

I think I always believed that I needed to clarify my life goals (my dreams, what do I want from life etc) to find my purpose in life, after which I will pray and try to stay disciplined to achieve these goals. Like Messy Christian I agree that the challenge is to remind myself to live for God instead of myself is not to think so much about my needs, my wants, and my everything.

Practical Step
Read my Bible more often and continually.

Purpose Driven Life - Intro (5)

Over the next 40days (6weeks), I plan to read The Purpose Driven Life (PDL) by Rick Warren and discuss my views and daily reflections on each chapter.

I also found that a couple of people have already started blogging about the book which is encouraging (Messy Christain, Med musing, Patriot Paradox and Cetra Veritas ) - I think they have reached day 3.

Another challenge is to finish Christian Books that I buy starting with this one I am currently reading. I have a habit of reading half and putting the book back on the shelf to collect dust.

Love Actually (3)

I saw Love Actually today and I was cracking up through the whole film. I love british actors, there is just something funnier about them in general. It is amazing and I am not sure I can express what I mean. For one, I think Huge Grant is one of funniest actors around. (Yes I liked Notting Hill). It seems he plays his part with little effort but manages to made it very entertaining.

100 films that simply deserve more love.

Bride Price or Donkey (6)

An desperate Afghan soldier had quick one with a donkey since he could not afford to pay any bride price (roughly £1,650).

The soldier, who was not identified, was detained for several days last week after a young boy spotted him with the animal in an abandoned house in the southeastern town of Gardez.
“The man insisted he had no other choice but the donkey because he could not afford to pay a dowry to get married,” a local police officer told Reuters.
The man had since been released without charge, he said

Must remind self to speak to bank manager to setup an account to start saving money for bride price.
