ADEREMI'S NOTEBOOK

2004 - A forward look

It is that time of the year when everyone puts pen into paper to deicde new year resolutions of some sort and adhere to it for the first couple of hours of the new year before deciding to completely forget all such resolutions. I must add that I have done it myself and I remain guilt. However instead of giving new year resolutions, I thought predictions/trends expected in 2004 would prove more useful. After careful observation over the last 2weeks or so, I have the following :

  1. iPods - Has anyone else noticed the new trends on the South East trains (formerly Connex) apart from late runs and London underground - white headphones. I suspect that iPods might be the best selling personal devices but Apple could be hurt because of the battery problem discovered recently. Having said that, maybe it is not such a problem.
  2. Tony Blair might resign on the subject of tution fees giving Gordon Brown, a shot as Prime Minister. I believe Tony will retire to America.
  3. Microsoft will find open source softwares eating into its market dominance on all levels as Governments around the world begin to look into cheap alternatives to ensure everyone can have access to affordable technology. Internet Explorer 7 might be released - any chance? Not that I would use it.
  4. Imperial College would still be the same.
